For Five years, many guests have cherished this home, made up of of five spacious rooms and two even bigger apartments, ideally set out around a pool and luscious garden vegetation. With no buildings obstructing the panorama of the ocean and Signal Hill, the sunset views are breath-taking. The service is friendly and social and guests often bump into friends made on previous vacations. The house is decorated in modern Anglo-European style with some maritime architectural detail.

Guests are mainly from the former colonialist countries of Southern Africa (Holland, England), from Germany and from French-speaking countries (Switzerland, Belgium and France). After only 5 years, many of the travelling guests have come back for another stay, especially in summer.

The Decks is set between the night-life district and the beaches of Clifton, both destinations a five-minute drive by car. The use of a car is recommended in Cape Town, allowing you to see the magnificent countryside or go on trips to the beaches or Cape Point Nature Reserve, situated at the Peninsula's southernmost tip.

For the clubbers, there are a variety of venues playing different styles of dance music. The scene is influenced by London, and numerous places are well worth a visit. The crowd varies from young to old, mixed and international, with plenty eye candy, covering twinks, preps, muscle boys and bears.

Cape cuisine is a mixture of European, Cape Muslim and African influences. Fish and meat are excellent and very affordable and the wines are world-renowned. There really is a staggering variety of restaurants throughout the city and most of them are quite affordable, so your palate will never be disappointed.

A variety of services are offered by The Decks guesthouse. There is an airport shuttle, tours, bicycle rental, Internet access, English language courses and massages. During high season – from November to February – a cocktail party is organized every Saturday at sunset.
